Diets - Formula For Fat Loss
Written by Anthony Pezzino

Protein - Provides for the transport of nutrients, oxygen, and waste throughout the body, and is required for the structure, function, and regulation of cells, tissues, and organs. “Protein builds muscle, which supports body fat loss.”
Carbs - Are the body’s main source of energy. Carbs are necessary for the digestion and assimilation of other foods, and help regulate protein and fat metabolism. With an intake of too many carbs, especially from refined sources (sugar), the body is forced to produce extra insulin which in turn causes body fat storage.
We need to control the insulin by slowing the release of the carb. We need to consume complex, or low glycemic carbs as they are called. This slows the release of the carb into the bloodstream, which in turn controls the insulin release, which in turn regulates body fat.
Fats - Are a concentrated source of energy, play a vital role in the health of your bones, protect the liver from toxins, and guard against harmful microorganisms in the digestive tract.
Eating the right fats cause you to lose body fat. Saturated fats, polyunsaturated, monounsaturated fatty acids.
Fiber - A natural appetite suppressant. It soaks up fat and sugar and prevents their absorption, along with flushing toxins out of the body.
Dietary Basics
You need to eat multiple meals, along with adequate amounts of protein, healthy fats, and low glycemic carbs. This will control your insulin and keep your body in a fat burning state. Breakfast... Snack...Lunch...Snack...
Dinner...Pre-bedtime protein. You should change the profiles of your meals dependent upon activity levels and energy needs.
Normally starches and grains would be eaten up to lunch (just half of the day). Then switching to green vegetables (second half of the day).
In general: Snacks or in between meals range between 100-250 calories; meals 300-500 calories. (Dependent upon diet plan, goals, energy and activity levels.)
At Powerhouse Gym of Bloomfield, we offer diet counseling along with an exercise program with our personal training membership. Call us for an appointment (973)429-0600.
